Buying Pallets

What types of used pallets does GreenCycle Pallets offer?

We offer a wide variety of used pallets including standard GMA pallets (48" x 40"), specialty sizes (42" x 42", 48" x 48", 48" x 45", and more), wood pallets, plastic pallets, and heat-treated pallets for export. All pallets are available in Grade A (like new), Grade B (good condition), and Grade C (economy) quality levels. We also offer custom pallets built to your specifications.

What is the minimum order quantity?

We are flexible with order sizes to accommodate businesses of all scales. Our typical minimum order is 20 pallets for local Sunnyvale delivery. However, we can work with smaller quantities for pickup orders at our facility. For bulk orders of 500 or more pallets, we offer additional volume discounts and can arrange recurring delivery schedules.

How much do used pallets cost?

Used pallet pricing varies based on size, grade, material, and quantity. As a general guide, standard 48" x 40" wood pallets range from $4 to $6 for Grade C, $6 to $9 for Grade B, and $8 to $12 for Grade A. Bulk orders receive significant discounts. Plastic and specialty pallets are priced individually. Contact us for a detailed quote based on your specific needs.

Can I see the pallets before purchasing?

Absolutely. We encourage customers to visit our Sunnyvale facility to inspect our inventory. You can see examples of each grade level, test pallets for your specific application, and meet our team. We are open Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 5 PM, and Saturday by appointment. We can also send photos of available inventory upon request.

Selling & Recycling

Does GreenCycle buy used pallets?

Yes, we actively purchase used pallets from businesses throughout Sunnyvale and the greater Bay Area. We buy pallets of all conditions, from lightly used to damaged. Pricing depends on the size, quantity, condition, and current market demand. We offer free on-site evaluations and can provide quotes within 24 hours.

How does the pallet recycling process work?

Our recycling process begins with collection and sorting. We pick up used pallets from your location (free of charge for qualifying volumes). At our facility, each pallet is inspected and sorted by condition. Pallets in good shape are cleaned and graded for resale. Damaged pallets are disassembled, and usable lumber is reclaimed for repairs. Remaining wood is processed into mulch, animal bedding, or biomass fuel. Virtually nothing goes to waste.

Do you offer regularly scheduled pallet pickups?

Yes, we offer weekly, biweekly, and monthly scheduled pickup services throughout Sunnyvale and surrounding areas including Beaverton, Hillsboro, Gresham, Lake Oswego, Tigard, and Tualatin. We can also arrange on-demand pickups with 24 to 48 hours notice. There is no charge for pickup when minimum volume thresholds are met.

Grades & Quality

What is the difference between Grade A, Grade B, and Grade C pallets?

Grade A pallets are in like-new condition with no significant damage, staining, or repairs. They are suitable for clean environments, retail displays, and automated warehouse systems. Grade B pallets are in good condition with minor cosmetic imperfections such as light staining, small nail holes, or slight discoloration, but are fully functional and structurally sound. Grade C pallets are economy-grade: functional and safe for use, but show visible wear including repaired boards, staining, and cosmetic blemishes. They are ideal for one-way shipments and general warehousing. Visit our detailed Grades Guide for more information.

How do you ensure the quality of recycled pallets?

Every pallet that enters our facility goes through a multi-point inspection process. We check structural integrity, board condition, nail placement, moisture content, and contamination. Pallets are sorted into appropriate grade categories, and any pallet that does not meet grade standards is repaired or recycled for components. Our quality control team has over 50 years of combined experience in the pallet industry.

Shipping & Delivery

What areas do you deliver to?

We deliver throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and the wider Bay Area region. Our standard delivery zone includes Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Santa Clara, Cupertino, Milpitas, Palo Alto, Fremont, San Jose, Redwood City, and San Mateo. We also serve Sacramento, Stockton, and other California cities for larger orders. For locations outside our standard zone, please contact us for delivery options and pricing.

How long does delivery take?

For standard in-stock items within the San Francisco Bay Area area, we typically deliver within 1 to 3 business days. Recurring orders can be scheduled on a weekly or biweekly basis for consistent, reliable delivery. Rush delivery (same day or next day) is available for an additional fee, subject to inventory and driver availability. Large or specialty orders may require 5 to 7 business days lead time.

What are your delivery fees?

Delivery fees are based on distance and order size. For orders within the San Francisco Bay Area area, we offer free delivery on orders of 100 or more pallets. Smaller orders within Sunnyvale typically carry a flat delivery fee of $50 to $150 depending on location. We provide full delivery cost details with every quote, so there are never any surprises.

Heat Treatment & Compliance

What is heat treatment and why is it important?

Heat treatment (HT) is a process where wood pallets are heated to a minimum core temperature of 56 degrees Celsius (132.8 degrees Fahrenheit) for at least 30 minutes. This treatment eliminates pests, larvae, and pathogens that could be transported in wood materials. Heat treatment is required by ISPM-15 regulations for all wood packaging materials (including pallets) used in international shipping. It is also preferred by many food and pharmaceutical companies for domestic use.

Are your pallets ISPM-15 certified?

Yes, GreenCycle Pallets is an ISPM-15 certified facility. We offer heat-treated pallets that bear the official IPPC stamp with the HT marking, confirming compliance with international phytosanitary standards. Our heat treatment process is regularly audited and certified. If you are shipping internationally from Sunnyvale, we can ensure all your pallets meet ISPM-15 requirements.

Do you offer fumigated pallets?

We do not offer methyl bromide fumigation as it is being phased out globally due to environmental concerns. Instead, we exclusively use heat treatment, which is the most widely accepted and environmentally responsible method for ISPM-15 compliance. Heat treatment is accepted by all countries that enforce ISPM-15 standards and does not leave chemical residues on the wood.
